What is SHRM?

The Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) is the leading voice of the human resource profession, representing the interests of more than 250,000 professional and student members from around the world. Formerly the American Society for Personnel Management, SHRM provides its membership with education and information services, conferences and seminars, government and media representation, and publications that equip human resource professionals to become leaders and decision makers within their organizations.

Mission Statement of the SHRM

To be a recognized leader in human resource management by

  • Providing high quality, dynamic, and responsive programs and service to our customers;
  • Being the voice of the profession on Human Resource Management issues;
  • Facilitating the development and guiding the direction of the Human Resources profession;
  • Establishing, monitoring and updating certification requirements for the profession.
