    How to Use Compensation Surveys

HR professionals need to ensure that their compensation system is fair, equitable and competitive.  Come to this session to learn about how to use compensation surveys, including what surveys to choose; how to interpret the data, including means, medians and percentiles; when and how to age survey data; and how to handle jobs for which you cannot find survey data.  In addition, we will discuss EEO laws that impact compensation.

     Participants will:

    •  Understand how to apply survey data by choosing the most relevant statistics from the survey for their situation
    • Discuss various laws that impact compensation and why it is important to monitor pay practices
    • Calculate compa-ratios for positions and understand how they are relevant to salary ranges

Angela Adams, CEBS, SPHR, has been with the Association since 2000 and consults with clients on job evaluation systems, compensation system design and using survey data to benchmark compensation practices. Angela also provides assistance in human resources, affirmative action, and supervisory/management training services for member organizations as a consultant and via the HR Hotline.
